As a photographer I tend to enjoy to being behind the camera as opposed to being the subject for a portrait. I can sense the anxiety that can come along with having professional portraits made, even if my subject happens to be a professional photographer. I was excited beyond belief when my good friend and colleague, Erik Matey (along with his fiance, Christie), asked me to shoot their engagement photos. When we showed up at this amazing, undisclosed location, my heart as well as my brain raced as the images formed in my mind… Everything was perfect… the location, the light, a couple willing to do ANYTHING!
I found myself with the perfect opportunity to shoot for me… and no doubt I did, I love the amazing stuff I got. As our shoot came to a close I just felt that I needed to present this couple with a few images that say more about Erik and Christie, than about me…Mark Gardner, the photographer.
So as we wrapped up the shoot I found a couple locations where the light was just right, and put them in a position where they could simply be… and enjoy each others company… then the fun began… enjoy!
